MapFactor for navigation

Post by luisblop » 12/03/2014, 11:12

Hi,

I would like to ask to add MapFactor app support for the navigation command.

This app allows offline navigation then it could be a great option for those without data plan and this way be able to use KLets in companion with MapFactor.

I think I got the solution.

Recently Mapfactor published an offcial guide about Intents in Android http://kb.mapfactor.com/kb/Navigator/Intents

Then my proposed solution is simply to start an activity with a VIEW Intent and the next URI data: geo:0,0?q=Destination
where Destination is a string with a specific address or a location query given through voice command.

Code: Select all

$ adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d "geo:0,0?q=Destination" com.mapfactor.navigator
Starting: Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=geo:0,0?q=Destination pkg=com.mapfactor.navigator }
I tested with Tasker and Terminal. So far it works pretty good as long the Network Location Service is enabled and running.
With such Intent, Mapfactor searches for the destination's address online and open the returned position, ready to navigate.

Hope you like the suggestion.

Hi! Thanks for pointing to the doc. It will be supported in the next version (I already added it in the development version).

Hello to everyone.

I use mapfactor and klets too.

Sometimes the command started with the intent doesn't start the navigation correctly. I have read the documentation of mapfactor and seen that there is a possibility to "comunicate" with mapfactor via command TCP. But I don't found the voice "Communication" in the mapfactor's menu. Have you this option in settings menu?

Thank you

I have found and test all!!

The communication is already activated and can be tested with tcpiptest.apk that can be downloaded on link in the app's forum.

I have tested the command also with HTTP POST in tasker with the commands $message and $destination.
