Offline Recognition finally available!

I write this quick news in order to let everyone aware that, with the latest Google Search app update, Google finally enabled the Offline recognition mode for third-part applications.

To use it, you need a Jelly Bean phone, than just install the latest Google Search update from the Play Store (you can use this url: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox), check that you have the latest version (2.3.11.575405 or newer), enable it as default voice recognition engine for your phone, install the offline recognition data and enjoy Voice Control in offline mode!

Some actions will still require an internet connection, like the send mail action (for obvious reasons) and the navigate action (that uses online Google Places services to perform address look-ups), and they may crash (I will fix them in the next update), but actions like call, send message, check lost calls, check unread messages and others will work flawlessly!

I would like to give my greatest Thanks to Google, for their decision to give the access to their great offline voice recognition to other Android apps!

  1. I’m not sure if this will be available for Gingerbread? My version of Search is much older and it doesn’t want to update.

    • At the moment, the offline recognizer is available only on Jelly Bean phones.

  2. Any chance you can make this work offline for google search version 2.0.0.392829? I have the offline voice recognition pack that goes with this version running on ICS.

  3. I have Google Search v2.7 end still not able to use voice recognition offline :(
I have no option to download the files.
    I have a Prestigio 4322

    • I’m sorry, but it seems that the offline recognition isn’t available on some phone. I don’t know the logic behind that choice made by Google, but I think that there are some hardware pre-requisites for the offline recognition, like a minimum RAM amount and CPU power.

Try asking Google to know why the offline recognition isn’t available on your phone.

    • Same problem here, on Prestigio PAP4322DUO offline voice is not working, and Klets says “Errore di rete” if I try to use it via edge/3g/hsdpa. In wifi it works…

  4. I have Google Search v2.7 end still not able to use voice recognition offline :(

  5. I’ve downloaded KLets several times from the Google Play Store but it never shows up on my Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.4.4.
I’d really love to try the product if I can ever get it.
